Top 5 score update apps for Mobiles & PDAs | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 heating up quite nicely. Quite a few close matches, some brilliant individual performances and a few upsets have kept the temperature up. Now as we are heading into the business end of the tournament, keeping up with the latest scores is becoming very important for most people. And since cricket is the undisputed national past-time, people find some way or the other of keeping themselves updated with the latest from the match.

However, mobile apps are just making lives easier, with the latest scores available on the move. If you happen to have an iOS based device - the iPhone, iPod Touch or the iPad, there are a lot of apps which may be of interest to you. Here are our top 5 picks. Download these and stay updated!

This app is backed by probably the most reliable cricket news and score website. ESPNcricinfo will keep users updated about the world cup and all the other cricket action happening around the world- domestic league action in various countries. If you enable push updates, a notification is sent any time a wicket falls or a cricketing milestone is achieved. And Indians are generally obsessed with records! This is an app to download for this world cup, and the cricket action all year round.

Open this app and the home page shows you the matches currently in progress, with the team totals in short. Click on any of the match tabs, and this takes you to the next screen which has a lot of interesting stuff. Detailed scores, run rate display, current batsmen’s individual scores, how much the recently dismissed batsmen scored etc. However, you don’t need to click anywhere to get the detailed scoreboard- just tilt the device to open the complete scoreboard! Flick right and left to see batsmen scores, bowling figures, partnership details etc. Not only this, the videos section has 20 second clips of highlights from that match, which is a huge value add. Now you will know who dismissed whom!

Okay, this one is not a dedicated app for just this edition of the cricket world cup. ScoreCenter will keep you posted with scores from sports around the world- be it American Football, or basketball or football. You can also set favourite teams for individual sports or tournaments, which highlights any updates from the match of that team. The app essentially tries to offer the maximum possible scores, without any additional, (and maybe unwanted), frills like animations or videos.

This app will not give you the latest scores. Which is why you are probably wondering why this app is on our list. There are valid reasons- results and tables. What this app does best is offer results of all matches played in this world cup with complete scorecards and details. If you are in the middle of a heated argument with a friend about some previous encounter, this is the app to pull out and deploy. Also, the group stage points tables are available instantly. The future fixtures are listed in a hard to miss format, and the squads are available as a ready reckoner for you when you are trying to change the fantasy cricket team!

This app’s name gives the impression that it’ll only offer the scores from the world cup. However, the app, at the time of testing, was offering scores from other matches being played globally- domestic competitions in Australia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa and also Guateng vs. Namibia! Coming back to the world cup, and we have the latest scores from the on-going games, the match schedule, team details and even venue details. The only thing we did not like about this app is the complicated layout of the world cup points table.

Baroda Team:
CC Williams, PR Shah * †, AT Rayudu, AND Kolsawala, KH Devdhar, MY Vahora, SD Vohra, BA Bhatt, Swapnil Singh, AS Karambelkar, AA Waghmode

Rajasthan Team:

Chopra, VA Saxena, RR inherit, HH Kanitkar *, R Bist, AL MENARINI, Pankaj Singh, Vivek Yadav, DL, Chahar, M Khatri, RB Jhalani †

Baroda 73 1 (Kolsawala 46 *) trail in Rajasthan 394 (Bist 77, Kanitkar 61, Bhatt 5-103) by 321 runs in the remaining 9 wickets

Bhargav Bhatt VIIe toiled their way to a well deserved wicket haul, but could not prevent the Rajasthan Send Nearly 400 AGREE misleading provides a competitive wicket Where is the uneven bounce in the game, unable to rise above the abundant supply of ankle height. Jaykishan Kolsawala Baroda has a strong response, but in Rajasthan managed to eradicate his opening partner Connor Williams, and that, as Neil’s line-up initiative, which is thin experience.

See the second day saw more action after the boredom, which was characteristic of the first was due to Loov take more initiative, and the bowlers get more help on the surface. While Bhatt was rewarded for his efforts, Murtuja Vahora got the ball and rush Loov NIP umbra, although the check was not reflected in his 36 wicketless overs that went 108 runs.

None of Rajasthan Loov have been a hundred, but today was the intention to seek every opportunity to score, and they added a lot of crashes almost Same yesterday, they had fewer citations, two-thirds of the overs. The approach was characterized by Ashok MENARINI, Whose quick 45 Rajasthan inched close to the psychological mark of 400, even the left-hand spinners and Swapnil Singh Bhatt was getting the ball turn and bounce.

MENARINI’s innings was crucial, because the see the light after a couple of Rajasthan lost nightwatchman Vivek Yadav and Robin Bist, ripper from the last with a score of 269th Bhatt Bowling more wickets, Bhatt loi a rough outside the leg stump Oige, and got it back sharply in the last corner to delay his shot from Bist eradicate heel. Nagu yesterday, which in turn had, but look sharply and unevenness in the surface showed increasing supplies of citations offspinner Aditya Waghmode off from shoulder height to reach the ball, beating the second wicketkeeper Pinal Shah as well.

Another wicket at that stage or two and Rajasthan would have struggled to reach 350th MENARINI showed that it is important that a positive track, starting with two swept Bhatt pants that went back on both sides of a deep square leg fielder. In the next over he hit Waghmode memory expansion for the wicket on both sides of pants and two overs later, Swapnil Singh looted 12 starts with six of Labi midwicket, and four extra cover. Attracts MENARINI demolition bowling and is looking solid at the other end to inherit Rashmi, Rajasthan added 120 runs in the first session and the 450th Area MEETING WAS eyeing

Baroda, feedback was all begun to wither MENARINI of the attack, came back together after lunch to advance creative pairing. Bhatt got MENARINI pushing hard for one that keeps the inside and bounced to the edge, the ball striking the pad before the hands reach forward short leg.

Rajasthan even guaranteed to succeed to get close to 400, playing safely, but using the drive, briefly to pick up and sweep limits. He brought out his half-century Bhatt another animal, but the tail did not offer him much help. Rohit Jhalani got BEAUTY AND sankalpa Deepak Vohra Pankaj Singh Chahar and went back to the supplies that came from, and were bowled, although the ball that got Pankaj NOT rise above your ankle. Bhatt Yorker length delivery bowled quick to inherit the 43rd VIIe over his fourth wicket haul of ten first class games.

Pankaj of Chahar and formed strong new-ball combination of this season, but Kolsawala and Williams negotiated safely. Thus, in protecting Seamers mainly on the back foot. Kolsawala HAD A treat to watch, especially citations, he drove straight down the ground And through extra cover. Overly defensive approach would have played into hands of Rajasthan, but Kolsawala determined that did not happen.

Rajasthan, the end of the day a more positive note, Williams pushed citations at legspinner Yadav, in turn, plays where there were not any, and Aakash Chopra took a sharp Diving facility of slippage. The pressure showed a definitive Devdhar Kedar, had received feedback from a couple of semi finals and looked anxious to get off the mark. But wait Rajasthan TEDA Kohtla 23 items, and he eventually got off the mid-mark courtesy of Kohtla misfield. Rajasthan is the uneven nature of the track gives rise to hope for any remaining doubts in the minds of Baroda Loov tomorrow, which seems 394 miles away at the moment.
